What is a resetter and why would I want one?
Several years ago some printer manufactures started embedding memory chips in their ink cartridges. These small storage devices are used to record pertinent cartridge data for use by the printer and
computer. One of the facts stored is the amount of ink still available in the cartridge. When the chip starts telling the printer that there is no more ink available, the printer will reject the
cartridge. Even after refilling, the printer will continue to reject the cartridge based on the information being provided by the embedded microchip. Resetters merely replace the data segments that
indicate an empty cartridge with data segments that indicate a full cartridge. The cartridge can then be refilled and reused. The chip will count down as before until the cartridge shows
empty.
Do I need one resetter for the black and one for the color?
No, one resetter will reprogram both the black and the color cartridges.
How long do they take to get?
Resetters are normally shipped the day following receipt of order.
Small orders are shipped via USPS first class. Allow 3 to 5 working days transit time inside the USA, 5 to 10 working days for international orders.
Why can't I reset my T009 (or T016) cartridges? Epson mounted the chips in a different location on those 2 cartridges than on all the others. With these two cartridges, you must take
extra care to see that the 7 resetter spring pins engage the 7 chip contact pads.
Does the QE368 work on aftermarket cartridges? Generally speaking the answer is yes. But, there are so many different aftermarket cartridges going on and off the market, its difficult to
be positive. If you come across an aftermarket cartridge that appears to be immune, you are invited to send it to us for testing.
Can I reset my cartridge even after I have let it go to completely empty?
Yes, the QE368 will return the chip to original factory specs regardless of the existing ink level.
How much are the shipping costs to (pick a country)? Shipping costs will be shown and automatically included into the total you see before you actually submit your order. In most cases,
individual orders will just be charged the standard $3 for shipping, regardless of where in the world they are going.
My printer is showing an error message that says "Unrecognizable Ink cartridge", and the resetter doesn't seem to help. What should I do? That message indicates either a damaged chip
or dirty chip contacts. The printer software is not getting the proper return from its queries. Chips can be damaged by static electricity, sharp impacts, or sometimes they just malfunction and go
bad.
If the chip is damaged the resetter will not be effective. The best solution is to get another chip, which means you will probably have to buy a new cartridge. The chips can be pried off and
replaced, so if you have old cartridges with undamaged chips, you may want to try that. But before you assume the chip is damaged, check the chip circuit board face, (the 7 rectangular contact pads).
Contact between the pads and the printer interface sometimes becomes blocked by oils from your hands or dried ink or ?....clean the contact pads carefully with alcohol and or lightly go over the pads
with a pencil eraser. Don't use a little short eraser on the end of an old pencil. You might scrape the contacts and damage the circuitry with the metal casing that surrounds the eraser.
